
Kealakekua Wildlife Adventure

This remarkable marine preserve, protected by towering sea cliffs and home to the Captain Cook Monument, offers some of the clearest waters in all of Hawaii. Your journey to the Captain Cook Monument takes you through waters so clear you can see the sandy bottom 30 feet below. Hawaiian spinner dolphins frequently grace these waters with their presence, we will be looking for several varieties of wildlife on our journey to and from Kealakekua Bay.
The bay’s unique ecosystem supports over 100 species of fish, from tiny wrasses darting between coral branches to majestic parrotfish grazing on algae-covered rocks. Our expert guides share not only fish information and identification but also the rich history of this sacred Hawaiian site. During your Captain Cook Monument snorkel adventure, you’ll encounter schools of tang, a variety of butterflyfish and witness the intricate beauty of finger coral formations. You will also learn about the cultural significance of this historic bay where Captain James Cook first landed in 1779.
